Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga leans into dialogue and party building more than most phone RPGs bother to. You recruit a handful of oddballs, each with their own grudges, and the writing actually gives them room to breathe between battles. I found myself reading every optional conversation, which almost never happens on mobile.
Combat is turn-based and front-loaded with decisions. Positioning matters, elemental weaknesses matter, and the autobattle option is there for grind sessions but will get you killed in boss fights. The difficulty curve is fair, though the mid-game leans on a bit of farming.
My one gripe is the menu depth. There are a lot of submenus for gear and skills, and on a small screen the tap targets get cramped. Still, the core loop kept me coming back for a couple weeks.
What we liked
- Writing that treats its characters seriously
- Tactical turn-based combat
- Generous save and resume handling
